2. Controller and purpose
TWH Holdings Limited is normally the controller for property CCTV. The purposes are to deter and investigate unauthorised access, theft, vandalism, damage, safety incidents and disputes, and to support insurance or legal claims where necessary.
3. Lawful basis
The usual lawful basis is legitimate interests in protecting people and property, balanced against privacy. Footage may also be used where necessary for legal claims or a legal obligation. Cameras and fields of view should be proportionate to those purposes.
4. Signage and transparency
Signs at the property should identify that CCTV is in use and provide a route to further information. Detailed security configuration is not published because doing so could undermine the protective purpose.
5. Access and disclosure
Access is restricted to authorised people with a genuine need. Footage may be disclosed to police, insurers, legal advisers, security/maintenance providers or affected individuals where lawful and proportionate. It is not shared for entertainment or marketing.
6. Retention
Footage is typically retained for about 30 days, then overwritten or deleted, unless a particular incident, complaint, insurance matter or legal hold requires relevant clips to be preserved for longer.
7. Your rights and requests
You may ask whether footage of you is held and request access, subject to identity checks, third-party rights, security considerations and legal exemptions. The exact time, date and location help locate footage. Erasure or objection requests will be considered under applicable law.
8. Audio and private areas
Routine audio recording should not be used unless separately justified, clearly communicated and legally assessed. Cameras should not be directed into areas where guests reasonably expect a high degree of privacy.
