1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files placed on a device. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, software development kits and identifiers that store or access information on a device. UK rules apply to both cookies and many similar technologies.
2. What this desktop edition uses
| Technology | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
peopleVillaStorageNotice in local storage | Remembers that the user dismissed the public storage notice | Strictly necessary preference | Until browser storage is cleared |
| Local web-server session | Serves the desktop files over a private local address | Strictly necessary | While the launcher is running |
This build does not load advertising cookies, analytics, social tracking pixels or embedded mapping frames. External destinations load only after you choose a link.
3. Requirements for live deployment
Before publishing or after adding analytics, video, maps, social feeds, chat, marketing or new plugins, the live site should be scanned and this table updated. Optional technology must not load before consent unless a clear legal exception applies.
4. Consent and choice
Where consent is required, it should be informed, specific and freely given. Rejecting optional technology should be as easy as accepting it. Users should be able to revisit their choice, and withdrawing consent should prevent future optional use.
5. Browser controls
You can clear or block cookies and local storage through browser settings. Blocking essential storage may mean a notice is shown again, but should not prevent access to the public content.
6. Third-party services
Apple, Google and external local-area websites may use their own cookies and similar technologies once you visit them. Their policies and controls apply independently.
